it is very cool indeed! it's kinda weird without having to step on anything, but once you start seeing/hearing the results, you will love it. and you get to clean-up less equipments after ...

btw, i think that is one way of being a "supportive guitarist" :)

Larry--I hear ya on the acoustic thing. It's great to put the focus where it needs to be, and just be intimate with our God. And I'm praying for you guys with the hurricane deal.

Oh ya, and I'm not surprised about Max Payne. hehe I have a rule about not seeing Marky-Mark movies. ;)

Matt--nice! How was the set? That's been in my head for a while not, too, to just do a set with electric-->amp, like kinda Jeff Buckley style. Cool blog, by the way. I'm going to add you to my blogroll, if that's cool.

Rhoy--I like that idea! Start with the basics, and only add effects as needed. Very interesting point of view, and really cool!

Ferry--thanks! (And hopefully you're laughing at the Hillsong thing.....I was pretty proud of that myself.....;) )

Chris--I'm at karl@getlife.tv . Thanks! And I'm going to add you to my blogroll, if you're cool with that. :)

@karl - acoustic sets are great especially with the correct choice of songs. every once in a while, i will come in to rehearsal with just my guitar and amp. it makes me listen more and make some pre-conceive thoughts on what i should add come sunday morning.

@lespaul - we may be interpreting the song "The Power of Your Name" differently. I don't see it as a protest song but almost a pledge to carry on what God's plan is for us by having a compassionate heart.

I too decided for this week to leave the pedals behind stage, unplugged and put away. Just a Strat, an A/B box, and two amps today. Man....I didn't know what to do with my feet! On the serious side, your post about re-beginning was great. Thanks for the reminder!

Man, I think I'm the same wavelength---

the pastor asked if we could play "Jesus Lover of My Soul" this Sunday, but "real-quiet like". I looked at the list of songs we had planned and 2 rock, and 2 are slow. I thought about how tired I am from this week (and hurricane omar stress-- yes it was supposed to hit PR this past week, thus no new post) and it all fit. ACOUSTIC SET! I screamed earlier tonight.
Sometimes worship is energizing and pumps you up, sometimes it is rest, and sometimes its a cry of "i wanna give up, help". I think I fit the last 2 this week.

I had decided tonight in the middle of Max Payne that I want to play it acoustic. I never "think" about it when I play acoustic. I dunno why- it just flows. And I sit when I play acoustic. I do not stand, nor do the "i'm baptist so i can't jump, but i really really want to" dance. I just "be" there.

Wow. Movie wasn't so great (Felt like a lame Constatine), but the self-awakening in the middle of the dark theater was worth it.

BUT, i will bring my new Barber compressor and my dd3 to fill out my tone :) Can't help that!

for some reason I want to say that my new favorite "christian protest" song is Lincoln Brewster's "The Power of Your Name"
It just fits me this week- its not a worship song per say, its a "Why Lord" song. But thats my next post i think :)
